Noggin module allows you to upload a custom header image on the Theme Settings page, just as you can logos and favorite icons. With Bartik and other core Drupal themes, the header image will appear automatically. For themes that use slightly different markup, you can enter in a custom CSS selector for the header region.

This is an excellent module to use as an example for Drupal's core extendability (a module modifying a theme! --even if simply by adding CSS.)

AJAX Poll adds the ability for users to vote on polls without reloading the page. It works with the normal Poll module included with Drupal core. It affects all polls throughout the site, on teaser, full, and block forms of polls.

Term Merge permits an administrator to merge one Taxonomy Term into another. All nodes tagged with the old Term are updated to point to the new Term, and the old Term is added as a synonym of the new one.

The Display suite module is an API which other modules can use to store and manipulate display data for objects (nodes, users, comments etc). Modules implementing this API automatically get an interface for adding build modes, fields and plugins either through code or via the UI

Search facets are a way to let your users filter search results in interesting ways. Some facets included with Apache Solr are filtering by content author or by content type. Facet Builder allows you to create your own facets, describing each filter option using the Views UI.

The Harvest module allows you to integrate Harvest Time Tracking (http://www.getharvest.com) with Drupal. Using the Harvest REST API this module will connect to Harvest to allow you to display and use information from Harvest.

the example modules that used to be hidden over in the documentation CVS over to the modules repository as first-class modules, which can be maintained, updated, and discussed in the issue queues.

This project aims to provide high-quality, well-documented API examples for a broad range of Drupal core functionality.

Developers can learn how to use a particular API quickly by experimenting with the examples, and adapt them for their own use.
