Contributing to the Community for Joy and Gain (Design for Drupal Boston 2011 session proposal)

This proposed session didn't make it on the schedule, but we'll be perfecting this concept which we can't help but write about and take notes about and wax political about.

Ghosts in Context UI

Context UI did not show up at all.
Enabled Context Layouts, and Context UI showed up, but reportedly without the ability to add blocks as reactions.
Cache cleared all with Drush, and Context's UI disappeared again.
Disabled Context Layouts, and it came back and everything seemed to work, at least momentarily.

The Ultimate Project Planning and Management Suite in Drupal

This does not remotely exist yet. Funding a point person to lead the project to make it, and creating or improving all the modules that would make it up, is a job for coordinating community initiatives- itself an initiative that could use support.

A Movement Cannot be Owned

Seth Godin writes:

A movement has an emotional heart. A movement might use an organization, but it can replace systems and people if they disappear. Movements are more likely to cause widespread change, and they require leaders, not managers. The internet, it turns out, is a movement, and every time someone tries to own it, they fail.

Ubuntu's native Terminal not scrolling back through output on remote server

any idea why my terminal wouldn't have backscroll when i'm connected to the server?

Settings work as expected locally (scroll back 4,000 lines) but not at all when connected to a remote server.

After trying most of the results for 'terminal' in Ubuntu's package manager, i didn't have an answer to this question, but i did have a solution.

Context UI configuration menu item does not show up

in

File this one under being bitten by a known bug.

Known problem:

Clearing caches (or enabling Context UI separately) should fix it.

It's blamed on CTools:

Trying out Zotero

http://www.zotero.org/

I was invited to join a group. The link to join a group only works if you already have an account and are logged in. Pretty clunky, that part.

But there's a big file manager at the bottom of my firefox now. We'll see how this works. A lot of it seems duplicative of Evernote. I just want to do all this in Drupal...

As all Zotero notes can be viewed as web pages in Firefox, i expect i'll like the underlying data storage in Zotero a whole lot more than Evernote.
