A "sustainable" theme is one that can grow seemingly effortlessly as the site grows. It saves time reducing theme work in the long term, and allows developers to change and add new sections that just "look right" right away.
Agenda
Using the custom theme of a large website as an example, I will go over:
- How to set up and use Zen as a base theme (that is different from the recommended instructions)
- How to set up your stylesheet to work with Drupal, not against it
- How to theme for Views, using views fields instead of teasers
- How to create and make minor changes to default Drupal templates so they work more sustainably
Goals
- Learn a new way of using Zen as your base theme
- Learn how to layout and structure your stylesheets in a sustainable fashion
- Learn how to gently manipulate Drupal's templates
