DrupalConDC Selling Drupal Services

The way that you deliver is as/more important than what you deliver.

We sell comfort. We make our customers feel good.

How many send a note after the first meeting? How many handwritten?

Attention to detail that you notice when you're selling your business.

We tell them:

  • it's easy to install.
  • it's easy to use. If you are worth your salt as a Drupal consultant, a Drupal developer, it is easy to use when you get it. We put in a WYSYWIG
  • it has lots of features. The long tail of features.
  • it's free. There's no licensing costs. That's the only thing we say about it. You only have to pay for what we customize.

Then we show them Amnesty International, Popular Science, all the Sony sites.

"Our software is free."

In my heart, with this economic downterm, which CMS systems are around that you are going to bet your life on.

A third of us can go out of business and the group can go on.

If the businesses go out, the developers go on.

"I don't know what's going to happen to the project."

Tell you what: there is noone that can't be toppled.

Free software looks better and better.
