Collaborative Software - Wiki Wikis

WikiWiki software, or simply wikis, are powerful collaboration tools.

Agaric Design creates custom wikis for you and your team, using the MediaWiki software that powers the world-famous Wikipedia.

We can set up password-protected wikis that are completely private, or access-controlled wikis that are viewable by the public but only editable by users with permissions.

Agaric Design can also provide lessons in wiki terminology and editing proctices so you can make the most of the productivity-enhancing potential of group collaboration.

World Social Forum 2008 Global Day of Action

wsf2008.net [update circa 2018: domain no longer controlled by the World Social Forum]

Synopsis

In 2008, the World Social Forum was not held in one or two locations, as it had in other years since the first Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2001. Agaric Design Collective created WSF2008.net to enable groups all over the world to plan and publicize participation in the Global Call for Action, with demonstrations and workshops held in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

The site included:

Twitter module for Drupal plus Facebook plus Adium equals end of schizophrenia

One status for all your online identities: the end of schizophrenia! Update your status on your Drupal site, and keep your wider wired and wireless world informed.

First, the Twitter module for Drupal by walkah is very simple and a little non-intuitive as to where to do settings, so we'll start with some Twitter module documentation that should be cleaned up and put on Drupal.org (pending the commit of a patch Agaric used and probably other enhancements of the module).

Increasing PHP file upload limits... capabilities is another matter

Upping PHP's maximum file size upload limit:

Your problem: the file upload settings page on your Drupal site (if you've found it) is telling you silly PHP won't let people upload big files, to wit:

Your PHP settings limit the maximum file size per upload to 2 MB.

There's two places that this has to change in your php.ini file; this can also be set in your settings.php PHP initialization variables.

Will money screw up the open source volunteer ethos?

Yes, I'm worried about what happens when you inject money where things were volunteer.

I hope that instead funding particular improvements will support, and indirectly reward, the volunteer code and patches that are central to open source free software development.

Community-Managed Categories Proposal as Submitted

[Proposal to Google Summer of Code 2007 with the Drupal project as originally submitted. Now re-titled Community-Managed Taxonomy to get more with the Drupal way.]

To introduce several features to enable communities of users to create and manage categories directly. Users will be able to vote to combine terms or to move terms under one another in a hierarchy.

Amazing Auction Enhancements

2008 Autumn Auction Season Update

Where is the Semantic Web?

Here I am, a wildly successful web developer, with "wild success" defined as "receiving money," and I want to publish a book review on my blog.

So of course I read the Wikipedia entry on Semantic Web.

And several hours of research later, I'm still not quite sure how to write up a book review, with author and publisher and ISBN and all that exciting information encoded in a way that tiny little people in mechanized bloodhounds (or however search engines and aggregators work) can find it when searching for such info.
