Background color only the width of text, not spanning entire div

Agaric wants an easy way to use CSS or modify some Drupal theme templates if necessary to make background colors only be as wide as the text, and not the whole page or column, in certain instances.

themes, theming Drupal, background behind text only
css text background color div width of text
only thing to try is to make the div inline

This is particularly for the add content, user, and other non-node pages on CarlitosNY.com and any theme that uses a photograph as the background.

Preparing Austin Project for a Participatory Society to Find Its Own Way

The Austin Project for a Participatory Society (APPS) found a volunteer to work on their site for free.

Agaric's prices are competitive, but not that competitive.

(We had encouraged founder Marcus Denton and the group to engage with the local Drupal community through the Austin Drupal group meetups.)

Blue Shirt Nation: Semi-empowering employees for profit, a misuse of Drupal

On the Achieve Internet alleged blog, Jim Edgett writes about how with their help "Blue Shirt Nation Capitalizes with Drupal" (p.s. if the Agaric blog ever reads like a press release, slap us around a little in the comments, OK?)

What Agaric means, the belligerent answer

Next time someone asks what "agaric" means I'm considering responding belligerently.

Our usual spiel is that it's chosen as a brandable name, hard consonants and fairly short, Agaric is a good name.

But next time I think I'll just say: "You don't ask what Kodak means, huh? You don't wonder what Coca-Cola means, do you? (Maybe you should...)"

Videoconferencing with cell phones prediction

2007 July 30th
Dan gives two years for cell phones to have videoconferencing.

I'm getting to like this Unix command line style stuff

Here's one that I did without having to look up the code:

scp -r ben@66.135.41.18:/var/www/drupal-5-live/profiles/agaric_starter agaric_starter

Pull down to my computer the installation profile that may or may not be saved elsewhere...

InternetBar.org Institute- taking over a Moodle site

Thanks Ed.

We probably would be best served by a backup of the MySQL database and
knowing which version of Moodle is running. We don't run Plesk (or any non
open source software) on our servers. As it's a control panel designed to
section off parts of a server from one another, perhaps we could be given
the login and export the database ourselves.

If you want, I can contact Chris Burbul about this directly.

I'm not sure I mentioned on the phone, though I meant to, that social change
is very much in our aim also-- specifically to help all people have the most
control possible over their own lives. This is to me a practical

I've run out of e-mail clients to switch to

thunderbird bugzilla message lost

e-mail data loss

InternetBar.org main site vision

I'd like to suggest we do a splash page like the one at www.bigmind.org. It doesn't need to look like that one of course, but the functional challenge we have right now in my opinion is we are failing to create proper context to diverse sets of people whom we want to attract to the site for very different reasons. They are: sponsors, members, contributors to specific projects and customers for courses and later certifications.

The result, in my opinion, is a home page in which there is too much happening and none of it can be tied together contextually. By analogy, we are like a book with many diverse chapters and we're trying to explain, highlight and attract readers to all these chapters at the same time. Instead, we need a title page so to speak. We need to flow people easily and quickly to the parts of the site that they'll be focused on.

Hierarchical Free Tagging

CMT can also be used simply as "hierarchical free tagging"

And potentially as community-assigning, but not creating, terms.
