Most people are fools...

Why do most people go around and say that they think Microsoft is evil and Apple is awesome?

On a daily basis, I find myself wondering why they've been fooled by the hype and the trendiness of Apple. These people in question go on diatribes about how the windows model has made people slaves to the OS, Microsoft is evil, Vista sucks, blah blah blah.

Why is this even a valid comparison? Apple makes HARDWARE, M$ does not. and when it comes down to it, Windows is absolutely CLOSED software (as opposed to open source or whatever), but so is Leopard, not only that but the hardware that runs Leopard is mostly closed too! Most "evil" windows boxes are frankenstein like beasts put together from parts made by a VARIETY of manufacturers, not just Apple... (I'd like to see leopard support as many hardware configurations that windows or linux does and still be "not buggy at all")

I am not being a defender of Windows or M$ in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, in fact, if you were to ask me, I'd push you towards Ubuntu or something... The point of this blog post is to ask:

Why don't people realize that their precious Apple products are locked up to them just as much (if not more) than the stuff they think is "evil" ?? Why are these folks so blind ?? Why do they get all uptight and defensive when you point this out to them ??

If the wifi card on a macbook dies, what does one do? well, your only option would be to get a replacement from apple or an authorized reseller. What if it doesn't die, but instead you only have wireless b/g and you want it to support wireless N standards too? well, you have no choice..... apple doesn't make a wifi N card for your model laptop... (but they do make new laptops with them :P )

If you were working with a vile windows based pc, you literally have hundreds of options for hardware made by hundreds of companies, you aren't limited to just ONE possible piece of hardware... and when you're done throwing in your new hardware, you can format the whole thing and get Ubuntu on there

This is just one example, but there are more, (like batteries) and when I feel like it, I'll post them.

I know what you're thinking now, sure, of course you can put linux on a macbook or other mac hardware too. The thing is, Apple hardware isn't OPEN. you can't just grab a bunch of old parts from a bunch of different old apple boxes and get a pc up and running.

So give it up all you Apple lovers. Your beloved company is just another evil corporation, just like microsoft. Do you know how or where your iPod or iPhone was made? I suggest you look it up, and trust me, there is no OSHA where it was....

Apple is all about being fashionable, cool, trendy, jumping on that iPhone bandwagon, and being part of that hip crowd.

Their real success in my opinion comes from marketing themselves this way as opposed to actually manufacturing quality products and software.. I mean please, how long has the iPhone been out without cut-and-paste functionality?? Even the crappy cell phone I had before my crackberry had that....
