Firebug : THE Firefox Extension....
Many moons ago, back in my days of owning a web site cart, it used to be that when you were creating drupal themes or doing css in general, you had to go through a ton of trial and error just to see if you were 'touching' a certain div or something in order to add properties to it, a huge issue when things are nested deeply.
One method that worked well, which I begrudgingly adopted from the 'other' guy here was that of putting borders on everything I was having trouble theming. Nothing makes you more sure about having the right tag when you refresh and a red border is around it... (but it is really tedious and annoying)
Anyway, that's how it was when I was a boy (so to speak) we had to download the stylesheet from the ftp, change it, upload it back, refresh the browser, and most of the time with no results.. and if you messed something up, forget about it, you were screwed.
These days everyone has it easy, we've got subversion, and totally awesome Firefox extensions like FireBug. FireBug basically helps with figuring out the ins and outs out what is actually happening with your site. And if you are reading this, and you consider yourself a drupal themer, and you don't have Firebug installed, then, I really don't know what to say to you....
So, instead of of blabbing on about this thing, here is the link ( to the most useful thing you will download all month )
--> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843 <--
download it and be happy, my name is Dan and I approve this message.
