Can't use Yahoo. No way to ask for the country (it replies with the country, but you can't ask for it) so no way to get lat-lon for country.
Woulda been cool though.

Resolution
More like this
- Curses: array_merge_recursive doesn't behave as hoped, it creates arrays for matching strings
- Opt-in for contact from future WSF activities so site doesn't dead-end
- Why Spot.Us Should have used Drupal (and why it doesn't matter)
- Drupal 7's jobqueue doesn't guarantee your hard drive won't be hit by a meteor
- Finding missing person Images Directory when her own CMS says she doesn't exist

Not clear how it relates to their (not released) approach of using Google when available and Yahoo when not.
Geonames.org open source location database

No text search for country though-- just code.
