Ubuntu (in VMWare Fusion virtual machine) loses use of the mouse with a text document symbol clutched in the pointer

not it:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=595463

Same-sounding problem with RapidSVN
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rapidsvn/+bug/402892

not it either:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/3294

Maybe it is a VMWare Fusion problem.

[then it suddenly went away so i stopped researching]

Did not go away next time (this is months later that it happened again, Ubuntu and everything had been running a long time if that means anything) and had to restart. Without ability to switch to other workspaces to close things there because no working mouse. Damn.

Workaround

Seems i can fix this by dragging a text document into the VM from the host OS.

Searched words:
ubuntu mouse stops working reload mouse modules ubuntu ubuntu mouse stuck in drag and drop vmware mouse freeze cursor stuck ubuntu mouse pointer file stuck to it ubuntu restart mouse vmware ubuntu drag-and-drop mouse frozen
