I have written one of my 'build' files (make files) that grabs Drupal core and my install profile from git.mig5.net:

As always, the install profile itself, once cloned from git, contains its own make file that grabs all the other components and puts them into place. It's based on Young's own featureserver.make file

The migrate module provides a flexible framework for migrating content into Drupal from other sources (e.g., when converting a web site from another CMS to Drupal). Out-of-the-box, support for creating Drupal nodes, users, and comments is included - hooks permit migration of other types of content.

In addition to performing the creation of Drupal objects from arbitrary data, migrate helps with the methodology of data migration:

Migrate Extras is a package of modules that integrate the Migrate Module with many of the non-core modules available for drupal, allowing you to import content from other modules, older versions of drupal, or a non-drupal CMS.

USAGE

Install on source site and on target site (site you would like to export from
and site you would like to import to).

On source site, go to admin/build/export and export the elements of your
choice. Grab export data, go to admin/build/import on target site, paste export
data and hit submit.

Exportables module provides easy exportables for objects that normally can't be exported. Currently, taxonomy vocabularies are supported. It does this by the following:
