Biblio module, first take

Biblio has rave reviews and is on its ninth beta release for Drupal 6.

It does not have Views 2 integration yet, which would be nice.

The questions are:

  • Can CCK fields be added to biblio nodes such that they will they look integrated with biblio core qualities?
  • If not, can Biblio be Views2-ized and will that make seamless presentation of CCK fields and Biblio attributes possible?

See also FreeCite, a citation parser (front end of that site by Kathleen).

As for PubMed integration, other Drupalers are close to committing a module for PubMed import into Biblio to Drupal.org. But (despite what I hear from scientists) it seems everyone loves PubMed! Check out PRONOVIX on PubMed import through FeedAPI.

Pubmed is an NIH thing. Anyone funded with the NIH needs to provide their full text articles that's available to the public. "I know the basics because I google it."

Footnotes

So reading up on the history -- including a search result for our own inadvertently open svn repository... -- the Biblio module currently steals the Footnotes module approach to inline citation input filtering

The Biblio module references filter has to be enabled at the chosen input format, for instance the default http://localhost/pdonline/admin/settings/filters/1

Biblio module references or [bib]
Use citekey or [bib]citebkey[/bib]to insert automatically numbered references.

so not exactly integrated, but not needed?

Endnotes versus Tagged

biblio export to endnote

http://mapaspects.org/biblio has simply changed the "tagged" export link to "Endnote".

[I implemented this theme override in the biblioreference module.]

Mapaspects documents his entire conversion from Word to Drupal / Book module / Biblio module, which could be very valuable for PDF:

The answers to the questions

The answers to the questions are no and no. Biblio does its own thing but it does it quite well.
