Translating taxonomy terms in DrupalTranslating taxonomy terms in Drupal

Searched words:
translating vocabularies
multi-language Drupal taxonomy terms
translate terms into multiple languages but one vocabulary and one node-to-term relation
The use case Agaric runs into most often is how to simply translate the terms, and show the correct translation for the language the content and/or the sitewide language is in (not have multiple vocabularies that apply different terms in different languages).
A thread with a great deal of answers:
Drupal 6: How to translate taxonomy terms?
http://drupal.org/node/335205
The Drupal core issue, including a nice summary by catch sadly missing the links:
Translatable taxonomy vocabularies and terms

Resolution
More like this
- Copy taxonomy terms from one node to another
- Taxonomy_term_count_nodes gives stupid results when child terms have same nodes
- taxonomy_term_count_nodes() flakes out: empty white screen when term has itself as parent
- Vocabularies for vocabularies, or paired-term taxonomy
- Displaying taxonomy terms differently according to their vocabulary
