Too many redirects, page fails to load issue with i18n and Global Redirect modules
So WSF2008.net "suddenly" developed an issue where switching the language through the CSS dropdown would result in an infinite redirect loop and no page being displayed
The output from Charles alternated between something I can't show you (a 301 redirect I think) because the very, very aggressive shareware "you must pay" nagware shut it down (saved my life, but...) and this:
Response Code 302 Found
Content-Type text/html; charset=utf-8
Client Address /127.0.0.1
Remote Address www.wsf2008.net/188.8.131.52
Request Start Time 12/1/07 8:11:29 AM
Response Start Time 12/1/07 8:11:30 AM
Response End Time 12/1/07 8:11:30 AM
Duration 555 ms
Response Duration 11 ms
Latency 544 ms
Speed 1.58 KB/s
Response Speed 44.39 KB/s
I realized it had to the Global Redirect module.
Solution: Disabled "Global Redirect 5.x-1.1 Searches for an alias of the current URL and 301 redirects if found. Stops duplicate content arising when path module is enabled.
Depends on: Path (enabled)"

Really, really, really stupid attempt at search engine optimization on our
part-- the global redirect module, which makes sure that pages don't have
multiple aliases in the eye of the world (with permanent redirects) and
works great on our other sites is massively incompatible with the
internationalization module-- but only on the home page.
