Usability sponsored by Microsoft with expected results

All set to sign the charter of www.worldusabilityday.org when I noticed this:

Live Webcast Will Close World Usability Day 2007 – Download Required in Advance
Posted: 08 November 2007 at 17:19

Please note: you must download the Microsoft Office Live Meeting Software prior to the webcast. We recommend that you download the software well in advance of the webcast. These instructions (.doc) will guide you through the process.

Re: [drupal.org] World Social Forum 2008 site, great initiative!!

Hi Martijn,

Yes, we will be giving every bit of code and configuration back on Drupal.org

The SVN repository is public also.

We'd be happy to give you the Places vocabulary populated by the participants of WSF2008. Remind us right when you need it-- the later it is, of course, the better and more complete it will be ;-)

Pierre's some ideas on the specs

Note this predates Agaric's proposal for the WSF2008 project.

Hi Jason and Benjamin

in the spirit of our chat of last thursday i have tried to go further
in some aspects - this may help for the monday chat to which i cannot participate- will post on the wiki soon

Alternative proposal for country selection: splash page

From Jason if Agaric's collective memory is working:

Idea for the country selection:

We put a pre-home page with a big title, a nice background (could be the wsf worldmap for now) and the list of countries by continent in 5 columns.
I would also like to have a spot there - we have one available soon.
Plus a button to skip directly to the home page below in the center of the footer.

This would allow us to have people link directly to their country/language page.

It should be quite easy to do, since it is just links to nodes of the site.

Userreference Access module development notes

The genesis is in Michelle's request for a userreference access module which we called a node authors module in the notes over there.

GHOP patch to the modules page which shows how much memory is in use

merlinofchaos: webchick: I finally came up with a ghop idea. It just hit me today, in fact.
[8:43pm] webchick: merlinofchaos, oooo!!
[8:43pm] webchick: do tell.
[8:43pm] merlinofchaos: webchick: We have ghop kids doing patches, right?
[8:43pm] webchick: Yep. And in many cases they're smarter than me.

WSF Payment system - USSF and PayPal question

Ah-- ussf-tech is on my gmail account, along with drupal-dev, drupal-this, apache-that, journalism-this.... let's just say during WSF my personal e-mail backlog, which has no mailing lists, reached 500. I would have seen this within a couple days though when I do my review ;-)

Pre-validation of forms with JQuery- alphanumeric check

pipit: i'm trying to validate (ex age) field on drupal form, using javascript. I found the jquery.alphanumeric.js, add it via drupal_add_js. But how to "insert" in on the age field ?
[12:23am] rszrama: pipit: alphanumeric = some jquery plugin?
[12:23am] pipit: rszrama : duno, i just try learn jquery stuff today :). I got it from : http://itgroup.com.ph/alphanumeric/

E-Commerce v3 shipping bug

Popped up originally when enabling all the e-commerce modules I was interested in at once.

Came up again at odd times, and fairly certainly would have been an issue if we had actually tried to use shipping.

When I caused a parse error in a PHP-input format node:

user warning: Table 'internetbar_live.microcommerce_org_ec_shipping_product_attribute' doesn't exist query: DELETE FROM microcommerce_org_ec_shipping_product_attribute WHERE vid = 5 in /var/www/drupal-5-live/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172.

On re-saving a page:

Will Freedom Stop at Drupal Code; and a Voice for the Disunited

Dries Buytaert joining his own Drupal-related start-up is the best thing that could happen for Drupal on his graduation. Joining an existing Drupal shop would have been good – Agaric would have taken him ;-) – but not as good as leaving all the great Drupal shops doing what they do and bringing fresh energy and investment to Drupal.
