Taxonomy location: what's been done?

Taxonomy-based location. What's been done? Precious little.

Aaron Pratt talked about it is 2007, Spring:

Assign Taxonomy Term Based On City, Using Location module
http://drupal.org/node/153940

Slavica Jones talked about it -- sounds more like the not-yet existent taxonomy module, ultimately -- in 2003:

Do not display log message

Do not show the log message input box, "An explanation of the additions or updates being made to help other authors understand your motivations."

oh well... form_alter can do it.

http://api.drupal.org/api/function/node_form/5

Now implemented in Agaric Design Collective's form_tweak module (not released on drupal.org yet, as I'm not sure about the protocol of modules you have to edit source code to use)

Set weight of a Drupal module

for setting the weight of any module, as the Drupal saying goes, there's a module for that:

http://drupal.org/project/moduleweight

You can also edit the weight in the {system} table directly (and see what other modules have been set to, sorting by the weight column in phpMyAdmin).

But what about a way to set the weight of your module inside your module with code? Of course there is:

What's the difference between Language Switcher and Translation block?

Deep in this old thread, "Looking for internationalization use cases and application feedback" - http://drupal.org/node/88417 - a user wrote:

I'm not sure what I did wrong but the Language Switcher block failed to work on mine site. I've to use Translation block instead

Good enough for me to start out with Translation as the block, since they look identical anyway...

Resolution

Agaric wants to keep en for customized English in Drupal 5

Drupal can I use a custom language at en?

We need to customize some strings for WSF2008.net, so we have a custom localization language, eng, for our modified English. However, it seems like some modules (for instance LoginToboggan for the login at access denied redirect) may assume that en/ will be enabled for English.

Entirely unrelated:

Weird stuff in the localization translation string location:

c:\Contributions\modules\og\og.module:534

Ghosts of work done on other computers by translators or module developers?

Dear friends

About the second topic of today chat

You will find in the joined document some ideas shaped through recent discussion with Jason , Ben( the main site developer), Christophe , Antonio martins, ( which does not imply they agree on all that is proposed here

about languages and translations

Dear friends,

Here you have a proposal for the languages and translation issue. Of course, we'll have to discuss it in our next general chat (next Wednesday), but it'll be good to have an exchange this Saturday.

For tomorrow, I think we'll have at least to talk about :
- mapping,
- translation and languages.

But we'll surely other things to talk about...

In solidarity,

Christophe
