Idea

That's my idea!

[This was a reply to a comment on my Idealab Educate post, but it's more of it's own incipient essay.]

I agree that understanding and properly using copyright and fair use is important, and I keep the Center for Social Media's resources in my toolkit. Moreover, I greatly value the work done to make the facts of what is permissible well-known. Clarity of the law is essential to prevent obscurity and uncertainty from being used as a bludgeon by people with lawyers on tap.

We need more though!

Computer Reconditioning in MetroWest Boston

Dan and I (of the Agaric Design Collective) were interested if anyone knows about or is involved in computer rescue and reconditioning efforts in Massachusetts. Naturally, we mean with GNU-Linux software on it, and giving (with training) to community or other worthy groups. And we're interested in particular in the Boston, and especially the MetroWest, area.

Solar Power - a grant plan?

Dan's grant
plants do it so it's possible

if you have a solar panel that shifts with the sun
at the end of the day, with leftover electricity
solar arrays in key spots that all they do is make electricity and feed it into the grid

solar power is possible with capacitors and batteries

the real impact, like on the whole mushroom theory
[is it popping up everywhere]

and then people can't just flip the switch of [$5/hr more]

I'm just talking about the science, bottom line numbers

60 Hz, 120 V

Configuration with a module

This came innto my head as a new idea, but I realize that this is just a rehashing of my partial installation profile.

Use case: make the navigation block show up only for logged in users, and expand the create content link.

We at Agaric Design Collective do that all the time, can probably just go in the Agaric Starter Profile, but it'd be nice to do as a module if possible.

Pathauto integration for Place

Place and/or taxonomy_location should be integrated with pathauto, see for inspiration: http://drupal.org/project/pathauto_extension (which originally added location options to pathauto as another module and is now being merged into it as a patch.)

Modular Installation Profiles

Agaric (or one of us, at least) is obsessed by the idea of modular installation profiles.

It's just the way Drupal should be.

Our Agaric Starter Profile was a hacky start at that, and has either been delisted from Drupal.org or we never made a proper release (either way, attention to it has suffered and we can't complain). More time than I had went into trying to create separate include files that could be combined in different ways to serve as a set of varying profiles that could be chosen.

Allow users to create a placeholder to relate or link to content they subsequently create

I am editing one node. I know that the next node I'm going to create is going to be related to it. In fact, I want to link to the node-to-be directly from the text I am writing.

Two kinds of action spaces

From Pierre George, who has spent a lot of time thinking about this and trying to present it.

(See attached file: structure.xls)

i have been pondering our talk of yesterday and have two suggestions on
coeditor and connections
hope the following helps common understanding whatever the outcome
