User login

Tasks and notes, getting close

Hi Steve, I knew there was an important e-mail to answer:

1.I think we are ready to let editors test some stuff. How do I give
them access? Can they just go to the site and login? Or do I need to set
up user names and privileges.

Yes. They will have to register (or be assigned roles) again when we go live, as we will be using the same user base as FSTV. Whom we have to ping again on live access.

  1. For the website sections etc... let me know if you want me to attempt
to create the pages from the old site. I think you've ported in section
which I can't do, but let me know if I should create static pages for
    some pages.

You creating pages from the old site would be great, so we don't spend time formatting anything you don't want-- if you have any trouble formatting, or bringing in images, just let us know.

Notes:

  1. The join the Discussion graphic on the left should link to
http://community.freespeech.org or somewhere in our community system.
FSTV is now our forum partner, not progressive Independent
-I believe the background for this graphic should be orange as in the
design I sent, but no rush on this.

Link changed, and assigning to Dan...

  1. I'm guessing that the front page video sections and blog section, and
main feature section just aren't ready yet, because they are blank

Getting there.

  1. The headline column should be a bit wider I think

Eh, OK. Went from 40% the width to 45%.

  1. I tried to upload the banner again but can't figure it out, it just
    asks for a url

OK, we'll try with the CFIA banner? -- not sure if we set all of that module up again.

  1. Can we have the logos linked to the organizations websites?

Done, without even reading this. Alternatively, the logos can link to the page each affiliate has on COA (which will have a description and then the most recent articles).

  1. Can logos be displayed at the top as well or is that too difficult.
If not maybe at least a link at the top to the original publication.

Done. Stylistically I think just a link might be better?

  1. Right now inputing links etc.. requires some basic html - can we make
it so that there is buttons for basic tasks (links, embedding pictures,
bold etc...) kind like how blog platforms these days are more like
microsoft word. Our old CMS was pretty button heavy. If we can do this
you might want to ask Bart if we should make this global to the FSTV
system - I would think they would be all over this.

Yes. Do you want rich text (WYSIWYG = What You See Is What You Get) which I'm prejudiced against, or just buttons that insert the HTML for you? I'll start with that, anyhow.

Sorry again for the delays. In other news, I was right and the doctor was wrong and they're letting Dad eat again. Unbelievable.
