Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt is a highly unethical - and effective - marketing technique.
The usual set-up is that the facts argue against the dominant player, so it uses superior marketing power to ignore the facts and spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt about the superior competitor.
Don't be taken in.
FUD in the history of personal computers.
Also effectively used by governments in declaring war on countries that are no threat to their people.
