Developing / debugging Views: helper functions

Spotted in IRC:

catch: merlinofchaos: yes I learned never to do dpm(debug_backtrace()) within a view ever again.
merlinofchaos: Yeah, PHP does NOT handle back-references well.
catch: you can do debug_backtrace(FALSE) or something, but I didn't know that until I'd exceed 256M memory limit several time and went to look it up
merlinofchaos: catch: I include a vpm_trace() function
merlinofchaos: er, vpr_trace()
merlinofchaos: <?php
vpr_trace() and vsm_trace()
?>

merlinofchaos: Both handy
catch: good to know
